As of today, 14 February 2012, any UK resident aged 18 or over who uses a mobile phone can participate in the UK COSMOS study. If you meet this criteria and wish to take part, please either click the "Join Now" link on the main page or head directly to the online questionnaire website.
We have also made some minor upgrades to our website and databases, hopefully making the UK Cosmos experience more streamlined and straightforward - any feedback is welcome.

Today, 12 July 2011, marks the launch of the COSMOS SMS Prepilot! We are trialling the use of text messages as a method of contacting participants for the study. As part of the recent upgrades to the COSMOS website we are pleased to announce the launch of the new COSMOS Participant Section. Current COSMOS participants are now able to log in securely to their Participant Records and update their contact details and mobile phone information as and when they need to. Over time we will be adding other resources to this area of the website to enable greater communication between the study team at Imperial College and COSMOS participants.

The COSMOS online survey closed to the public on 1 September 2010. As such, no further input can be made on the survey by current or prospective participants at this time. Please be assured the study itself is still active, although the initial online survey phase has drawn to a close. The next stage of the study, which involves the collection of further data, is currently progressing well. After the successfull pre-test study, we are launching the main UK COSMOS study in April 2010. We will be inviting a total of 2.4 million UK mobile phone customers to take part.

The pre-test study received a total of 232 participants, many thanks to all those who took part. We are now preparing for the main launch of the study, which will go live in early 2010.

The pre-test study successfully launched on the 28th May 2009. A selection of customers from the main UK mobile phone network operators were invited to participate, with over 100 participants signed up to date and registrations ongoing.
